Understanding Epilepsy

Epilepsy is a brain condition that causes recurring seizures due to abnormal electrical activity. It’s often diagnosed in children, teens, and adults over 65. Seizures can be triggered by lack of sleep, illness, fever, stress, caffeine, alcohol, or drugs..

There are two main types of seizures:

Generalized seizures: These affect the entire brain and include six types: Absence, Tonic, Atonic, Clonic, Myoclonic, and Tonic-Clonic.

Focal (Partial) seizures: These start in a specific part of the brain, known as the focus, and include two types: Simple and Complex partial seizures.
